First Look Image Of Steve Coogan As Jimmy Savile

A picture has been released of Steve Coogan in character as Jimmy Savile from the forthcoming drama The Reckoning.

Reports say that the one-off drama is scheduled to air this autumn. It will include testimonies of people who suffered at the hands of the Savile. The former DJ was never convicted in his life lifetime but after his death it was revealed that he had abused countless people - many of them young women – when he was a household name famous for his extravagant appearance and marathon running.

The Reckoning is written by Neil McKay with Jeff Pope as executive producer. They previously collaborated on the Fred West drama Appropriate Adult and The Moorside, which told the story of the disappearance of Shannon Matthews, as well as Four Lives, about the murders of four young gay men by Stephen Port.

In the image Coogan is wearing a tracksuit as Savile often wore and smoking one of Savile's trademark cigars.

Savile died in 2011 aged 84.

Coogan is also due to appear later this year in the more familiar guise of Alan Partridge who has a new season of his podcast, From the Oasthouse, coming out on Audible.
