US comedian Russell Hicks (Amazon Prime Video, ITV, Channel 4, BBC) is set to head out on his first tour this autumn with his new show Happy To Be Here, about his love of being in the UK and how he wants to remain here, much to the bemusement of the British people – why don’t we believe him?
Russell, hailing from the USA, has lived in the UK for 10 years, where he has been performing stand-up for and growing his fanbase off and online. The show will see him navigate his thoughts of living here compared to the USA as well as his experiences of being sober, polyamory and the different types of relationships he is open to as well as what he learned along the way. Although, his parents still think he makes his money through some kind of illegal activity, so this tour is helping him prove his legitimacy to his parents that he’s not earning through some nefarious means.
Although Russell has a presence on television, having starred in several episodes of ITV’s ‘Stand Up Sketch Show,’ and won the Channel 4 competition series ‘Captive Audience’ with his fully improvised comedy, and starred in Prime Video series ‘Lovestruck High’ narrated by Lindsay Lohan as the loveable Texan Coach Hughes, it is his social media following that has caught people’s attention. With over 275k followers on TikTokand 5.9m likes, he is making waves and has a huge fanbase across the globe.
On the live circuit, he has performed around the country, you may even recognise him as the voice of Sky Comedy or caught him opening for the likes of Al Murray or ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Axel Blake. He has also had three Leicester Comedy Festival nominations for best improv show along the way and he’s been officially declared a Global Talent by Arts Council England.
