ALSO: The UKs most inspirational summer festival combining ideas, music and comedy alongside adventures in food, nature and wellness, has announced the first wave of speakers, performers and experiences for its upcoming 11th edition: ALSO24, taking place 12th - 14th July 2024 at Park Farm, Compton Verney, Warwickshire.
ALSO24’s offering of comedy features headline performances from BAFTA winning, best-selling writer and comedian Adam Kay (This is Going to Hurt, Undoctored) who will regale audiences with tales from his time as a junior doctor and acclaimed comedian and best-selling writer Sara Pascoe (as seen on QI, Taskmaster and Live at the Apollo) who will perform her brand new show Thoughts from the Night.
Kicking off our comedy programming, come and see how four of ALSO24’s comedians fare as they’re put on the spot Rob Deering’s Beat This! - the worldwide festival favourite music-based comedy pop quiz from the international comedy legend (and Celebrity Mastermind winner). Don’t miss comedy polymath Robin Ince (pictured) who shares musings from his ever-active mind on our ALSO24 Woods stage, sublime spoken word from poet and novelist Salena Godden who sets out to kick some ass, tell the truth and inspire change or gallic misanthrope (and TikTok sensation) Marcel Lucont (pictured) who presents his cult hit Cabaret Fantastique (in our redesigned cabaret style dining tent) featuring Rob Deering and more incredible performers to be announced.
The comedy line-up has been lovingly curated by none other than award winning comedian Alexis Dubus (alias Marcel Lucont) Alexis said ‘ALSO is a very special festival, and I try to reflect that in the comedy and cabaret booking, with just the right blend of the smart, the silly, the structured and the experimental. Knowing it will be a curious audience, among the acts they’ll already know I always throw something into the mix that will challenge or surprise them. I’ve been getting increasingly ecstatic feedback from audiences and performers over the years, and watching an act really connect with the ALSO crowd is a wonderful experience. I say this every year (because I mean it), but I think this is our best comedy and cabaret line-up yet, and there are still more acts to come.’
Comedy fans will also recognise some familiar faces across the rest of the festival programme with rock-star classicist, bestselling writer and former comedian Natalie Haynes who will share stories of Greek Goddesses, comedian and musician Steve Pretty in a live recording of his hit podcast The Origin of the Pieces and future stars can sign up for Character Comedy Workshop with Alexis Dubus created exclusively for ALSO as part of our programme of family friendly activities.
ALSO24 will also be packed with transformative ideas as we dive into themes of Heavenly Bodies featuring Sunday Times Bestselling psychotherapist Philippa Perry (in her only UK festival appearance this summer), quantum theorist Professor David Tong, behavioural economist Dr Pragya Agarwal, bestselling author and journalist Catherine Nixey, politics in Space with journalist Tim Marshall, cosmologist Roberto Trotta and Professor Sir Michael Marmot, best-selling children’s author Andy Stanton.
Alongside the big thinkers, ALSO24 is the perfect place to discover new music, providing the stellar soundtrack to your summer with genre-busting live performances from extraordinary experimental musician Jessica Winter, indie-folk sonic adventurers Stornoway, Latin & Brazilian influenced soul and funk collective The Fontanas and many more.
ALSO24 gives festival guests unrivaled opportunities to embark on weird and wonderful adventures in nature and wellness. Immerse yourself in our sound baths, visit the Zen Ten Spa, ALSO Sauna, join a session of fire yoga, moon yoga or floating SUP yoga, go wild swimming, or delve into the mysteries of the cosmos at Astrology in the Orrery.
