Comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont have announced that they are getting divorced. They have been married for nine years.
They announced the shock news in a joint statement on Instagram. They have one young daughter.
The new series of their mockumentary hit Meet The Richardsons only started this week. It has been running since 2020 and charted their lives - or at least a heightened, fictional version of their lives, scripted by Beaumont.
They said the decision was made "jointly and amicably" in the followng statement.
"After nine years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated."
"We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.
"As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being.
"We will be making no further comment."
In an interview to promote the new series of Meet the Richardsons Lucy Beaumont said:: I think this is the best one to be honest. Every series we’ve got better and better. When we started out in series one, it was a little bit of an unknown. It was sort of mockumentary, but it was scripted, but we had real people in it. I do struggle to explain it really and I think that wound people up because sometimes I didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t. I think we’ve just got better at making that genre, so I think this series is the funniest yet, personally. When I started out, I was working but not a great deal and because it’s followed our own life, in this series my career has really taken off and I’ve reached 40 and I’m having a midlife crisis. I think viewers can expect much of the same, but I think it’s definitely the funniest it’s been."
