What do your parents think of your job? 

Deeply scornful and sceptical. High hopes I will go back to being a lawyer. No way! I love making no money and living a life of low key humiliation.  

What’s the worst thing about being a comedian? 

For women doing comedy, I think the worst thing, is there isn’t the same pay off for women as there is with guys when it comes to the opposite sex. Men are often sustained in the early stages of their comedy career by how much more attractive doing comedy makes them. I’ve often noticed, predominantly from personal experience, an inverse correlation for women. So we have to find other ways to stay motivated! 

I think you are very good at what you do (that’s why I’m asking these questions). What do you think of you? 

Why thank you. Complement accepted. I think I’m very talented, at what exactly, I am still yet to work out precisely. 

How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn? 

Wow, personal questions much. The problem with me is I’m not interested in anything in-between, or gradual increases with hard work, I’d like to go from zero to 10million a year.  

How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks? 

Luck is very important, but not as important as putting years and years of hard work and toil in. Because when you get your lucky break, you need to be ready. And you need to have been ready for years, just waiting in the wilderness, top of your game, languishing, for that one stroke of luck. 

Alan Davies has said that comedians fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into third category? 

Definitely a tortured artist. And I waste far too much time at it. Maybe I should take up golf?

Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other comedians? 

This is really hard, because if I’ve met someone and I like them, I consider them a friend. So this has to be someone I’ve never met. Who has never let me down in any shape or form. And that is no one. Maybe Winston Churchill. My mum really likes him. Or a cartoon. I felt very connected to the Care Bears as a child. 

Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not? (please think long and hard about this question, it's to settle an argument with my girlfriend. The future of our relationship could depend on your response). 

I’m not sure I believe in drawers. I like everything spread out on large cluttered surfaces so I can see it.
