CM: “Is there advice on here about how to write a really successful musical and then live off the royalties?”
TM: “Yeah. In a manner of speaking, yeah.”
CM: “Is it time? Are you ready to do something new musical-wise?”
TM: “Yeah, I really want to write a new musical. But yes, I need your ideas. I very rarely come across a story or a property, as they say, a book or a movie where I think, ‘Yeah, that has to be a musical.’ I wondered about Jesus Christ Superstar 2. Like, the aftermath.”
DB: “Yeah, what happened next.”
TM: “Yeah. So, Judas is dead, Jesus is dead. It’s just Saul of Tarsus going nuts and spreading the word. And he’s a pretty interesting cat, Saul of Tarsus, who became Paul on the road to Damascus. I mean, ‘road to Damascus’ in itself is a lyric, isn’t it? Lin-Manuel Miranda should write that.”
CM: “You could do that, or you could work with me on my musical about cows.”
TM: “Oh yeah, Bovine the musical.”
CM: “Cows the musical.”
