Radio Series For Randy Feltface

Radio Series For Randy Feltface
Randy Feltface’s Destruction Manual begins on 21st September – and sees Randy trying to bring about the end of the world...

BBC Radio 4 listeners may not yet be familiar with Randy Feltface, the purple puppet from Australia who's a hit on the international touring circuit, as well as having over four million followers on social media – but they soon will be, with his debut radio series, Randy Feltface’s Destruction Manual, set to make a splash on 21st September.

Randy has gained a cult following for his standup shows, which are full of existential humour and biting observations. Now, he’s turning his hand to the topic of climate change. Fed up with seeing humans damage the environment, Randy’s anarchic four-part series sees him work out the best way to get the whole destruction business over and done with and bring about the end of the world - with the help of an irritable duck, a fictional French coalminer’s daughter and a sexy earthworm, to name a few.

The series begins on Saturday 21st September at 23:00 and will also be available as a box set on BBC Sounds. Randy Feltface’s Destruction Manual is produced and directed by David Tyler and is a Pozzitive production for BBC Radio 4.

Julia McKenzie, Commissioning Editor for Radio 4 Comedy, says, ‘I've long been concerned that the puppet community is unrepresented on BBC Radio 4. As soon as I saw Randy I knew the quality of the satirical writing was something I wanted to share with the Radio 4 and BBC Sounds audience. That the listener can't see him, is, I think, possibly better for everyone.’

Randy Feltface says, ‘There’s never been a better time for a painstakingly-researched, four-part climate-themed Radio 4 series hosted by an Australian puppet with a crippling tax debt. I look forward to enlightening, entertaining and irritating the listeners with this semi-depressing audio extravaganza!’

David Tyler says, ‘Making this series I learnt so much about climate change and how humankind is treating the planet. The scripts were fantastic - funny, emotive, thought-provoking and great for holding up to your face so the cast can’t see you eating a Cornish pasty.'

Randy Feltface has been seen on Netflix, ABC, NBC, and has a huge and devoted following across the globe (800k Instagram followers, 2m TikTok followers, 1.1m YouTube subscribers, and over 79 million YouTube views). Since beginning his comedy career in 2005, Randy has written and performed eight solo stand-up comedy shows, released three comedy specials, played sold-out seasons in London and New York and been nominated for Best Comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  His hour-long specials are YouTube cult classics, his world tours are sold-out sensations, and he's the only Radio 4 presenter to be entirely made of felt.

Randy joins an illustrious lineage of puppet presenters on the BBC, including pioneering puppet Archie Andrews, who presented on both TV and radio in the 1950s and 60s, as well as more recent favourites like Basil Brush, Gordon the Gopher, and Hacker T Dog, although Randy is the only one who says f**k on air.
