The third series of the award nominated podcast (Chortle Best Podcast 2024), and as featured in The Guardian's Best Podcast’s of 2023, will launch on Thursday 19th September 2024 and will be available weekly thereafter on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all major podcast platforms.
Guests for the series include Russell Kane, Stephen Bailey, Janice Connolly (Barbara Nice), David O’Doherty and many more.
Ian and Amy are two Northerners living in London, missing out on the juicy stories from their hometowns. Join them as they scour the local rags of the North to find the stories you didn’t know you needed to know. Who’s tipped to win big at the World Gravy Wrestling Championships? Is there a pig in Goole that needs coaxing off a mini-roundabout with crisps? Amy and Ian get the scoop on the hottest, creepiest, and downright peculiar news stories from the North.
Ian Smith said “We're very lucky that the North of England keeps generating bizarre news content for us to talk about - there's something in the water. There's something in the gravy. Whatever it is, it's making Northerners do daft stuff, and I can't wait to share it with everyone!”
Amy Gledhill said “Chatting about daft stuff from the North is what Ian and I would be doing anyway so I’m delighted someone is recording it and sharing it with the good folk of podcast land. I can’t wait for series 3, there’s just so much northern gold!”
Northern News is produced by Plosive – the team behind award-winning podcasts including Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, Cuddle Club with Lou Sanders, Nobody Panic, Sara & Cariad’s Weirdos Book Club, The Rob Auton Daily Podcast and Lucy & Sam’s Perfect Brains.
