Sky has announced that stand-up specials from Maisie Adam and Paul Chowdhry will air exclusively on Sky Comedy and NOW this December.
Maisie Adam performs her latest tour show, Appraisal, filmed in her hometown at The Harrogate Theatre. It’s been a meteoric rise through the comedy ranks for Maisie and she’s fast on her way to becoming a household name. Stand-up is what she loves most and she’s now five years into her job as a comedian, so perhaps she’s due an appraisal. Appraisal is the ultimate performance review, where we see just why she is an award-winning comic…or is she heading towards an “organisational restructure”?
Paul Chowdhry, the first British Asian Stand up to sell out Wembley Arena, performs his latest tour show, Family Friendly Comedian which was recorded in London this autumn. Family Friendly Comedian is a show where we’ll find out that Paul is on a mission to tone down his post-watershed comedy and in an attempt to become a beloved, family-friendly national treasure. How hard can it be?
Maisie Adam says: “On a cold January morning in 1994, after 32hours of gruelling labour on behalf of my dear mother, I was born into this world. I know I was only a minute old, but I remember it so vividly; my mother looked down at me, moved my weird haircut out of my eyes and proudly declared “One day, she’ll write a stand-up comedy special called Appraisal and it shall be available on Sky for all to see - providing you have Sky of course!”
Paul Chowdhry says: “At last, my Family-Friendly Comedian show is coming to TV! This show has toured around the world—even in Saudi Arabia—and I hope viewers will gather with family and friends to enjoy the fun together. After a quarter of a century as a comedic performer, this brings me into mainstream entertainment, and hopefully the chance to finally bake cakes on TV.”
Andy Holland, Executive Producer Drum Studios: “We’re delighted to have produced these two very different but equally brilliant and hilarious stand-up specials and can’t wait for the Sky audience to see them.”
