Rob Auton Sets Out On Biggest Tour Yet

Following his second consecutive British Podcast Award win and a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe earlier this year, multi award-winning comedian, podcaster, and writer Rob Auton (StarstruckThe End of the F***ing WorldMiracle Workers) is set to embark on his biggest tour yet with The Eyes Open and Shut Show in the New Year.

The news coincides with Rob announcing that his first stand-up comedy special The Time Show will be released this Sunday 15th December at 11am on Turtle Canyon Comedy’s YouTube, here. Recorded at the Tom Thumb Theatre in Margate – one of the smallest theatres in the world – the special is directed by Stuart Laws (James Acaster: Hecklers Welcome, Nish Kumar: Your Power, Your Control) and is produced by Turtle Canyon and Plosive.

With over 39 performances nationwide, The Eyes Open and Shut Show tour kicks off with a week-long run at London’s Soho Theatre Main House on 27th January and culminates at Leeds’ City Varieties Musical Hall on 3rd May. Through his trademark acclaimed unique humour and perspective, Rob will explore the nature of our approach to the world through our eyes - both open and shut - interweaving guided meditations with evocative imagery. Examining how language shapes our perception in these states, Rob seamlessly transforms the everyday into the extraordinary, leading audiences to “walk out feeling transformed. And fully alive” (The Scotsman).

The Time Show is a comedy/theatre/spoken word show that received critical acclaim at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe and went on to tour the UK to sell-out crowds. Rob has earned a cult following from his shows about Rob, crowds, time, talking, hair, sleep, water, faces, the sky and the colour yellow, leading to multiple successful national and international tours, with his most recent hours performed at the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival in both 2023 and 2024.

On the 1st January 2024, three years since its last episode, Rob relaunched his daily and critically acclaimed podcast, The Rob Auton Daily Podcast, which “makes you see the world differently” (Miranda Sawyer, The Observer). With over 500 episodes and over 2 million downloads to date, the podcast was named the 2024 British Podcast Awards Gold Winner for ‘Best Daily Podcast’ (against competition including The Guardian’s Today in Focus, BBC’s Newscast, and The Times’ The Story). This marks Rob's second consecutive win in the category, following his first award in 2020 with the original series.

Rob recently appeared on the latest series of Starstruck (BBC), adding to numerous on-screen credits including Miracle Workers (TBS), The End of the F***ing World (Netflix/Channel 4), The Russell Howard Hour (Sky), Cold Feet (ITV) and Random Acts (Channel 4). A clip of Rob performing on Stand-Up Central With Rob Delaney (Comedy Central) went viral with over 11 million views on Facebook alone, and has since found a new audience on TikTok with over 1.8 million views.

In 2021, HarperCollins’ Mudlark released Rob’s latest book, I Strongly Believe in Incredible Things, comprising of poetic prose, short stories and biro drawings detailing and celebrating a selection of some of our world’s everyday wonders, which he both wrote and illustrated. Previously, Rob had published three collections of writing and drawing, Take Hair, Petrol Honey and In Heaven The Onions Make You Laugh, with Burning Eye Books and released a spoken word album At Home With Rob on Scroobius Pip’s record label Speech Development Records.
