Comedian Russell Howard has set the record straight about recent widespread reports that he was not going to do any TV any more to concentrate on live stand-up shows.
Talking on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X this morning he rubbished the news as ‘bizarre clickbait’, clarifying that he is selective over his TV work and ‘won’t do TV for the sake of it.’
Moyles asked him if he had retired from TV, to which Howard replied: "Yeah, that’s what happens when you talk on a podcast and articles turn it into clickbait. Yeah, I basically said that I’m really enjoying doing stand-up on my podcast. This country is pretty strange – we had an election, and we didn’t have any topical comedy shows on TV. You just don’t really have them anymore. So, I don’t want to do TV for the sake of it and I’d rather do stand-up. That’s all I said, and suddenly, ‘Howard quits!’ Bizarre. I was in New York at the time, and my wife was like, ‘What’s going on?’ And there are all these kind of articles.”
Tune into The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X weekdays from 6:30am – 10am and on Global Player**
