Emmy-winning comedian,Wanda Sykes is to play UK dates. Sykes has ranked among Entertainment Weekly's “25 Funniest People in America” and her peers have called her “one of the funniest stand-up comics” in the world. This is Wanda’s first visit to the UK following her sold out show at London’s Union Chapel in 2019, this time performing at Manchester’s New Century Hall, Brighton Dome, and London’s Royal Festival Hall. Across her varied and prestigious career, Wanda has received seventeen Primetime Emmy Nominations, most recently for her 2023 Netflix special Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer, which was also nominated for a Golden Globe, and 2019’s Wanda Sykes: Not Normal.
Wanda can currently be seen in season 4 of the Netflix comedy The Upshaws, for which she is also a writer, and showrunner. Across the past few years, she has received Emmy nominations for her roles in Black-ish and The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, and spent five years on the sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine co-starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as well as HBO's critically acclaimed The Chris Rock Show. She has also appeared in Broad City, House of Lies, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and many more hit television shows. She recently produced the Apple TV+ 5-part documentary series Visible; Out on Television, about how the LGBTQ movement has shaped the history of the medium.
In the world of film, Wanda was seen in the feature comedy Snatched, opposite Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. She was also seen in Evan Almighty in which she co-starred with Steve Carell, the cult-hit Monster-In-Law with Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez, and My Super Ex- Girlfriend, Bad Moms, Nutty Professor 2; The Klumps, Down to Earth and many more.
Wanda can be heard in many animated feature films and television shows, such as Ice Ace: Collision Course, Ice Ace: Continental, Big Mouth, Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons. Wanda’s first book, Yeah, I Said It, a hilarious collection of essays touching on life, family and current events, hit bookstores in 2004.
