UK Comic Nominated For Webby Award
Comedian Toby Williams and directing duo Big Red Button have been nominated for Best Video & Film in the 29th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honouring excellence on the Internet.

Toby and Pier & Johnny (the Big Red Button boys) first discussed the idea at a short film night. As it developed in a dark, strange and delightfully weird direction the fabulous team at Blink Productions (blinkprods.com) came onboard to make this bizarre fever dream a reality.

As a Webby Nominee, Wet Fish has been singled out as one of the five best in the world in its category, meaning it’s among the top 12% of the 13,000 projects entered.

IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award Winners, is comprised of Internet industry experts including Amelia Dimoldenberg, Host & Producer of Chicken Shop Date and Founder of Dimz Inc; Todd Kaplan, Chief Marketing Officer at Kraft Heinz; Jaime Teevan, Chief Scientist at Microsoft; Shannon Sharpe, NFL Hall of Famer and Host of Club Shay Shay & NightCap; Stephan Pretorius, Chief Technology Officer, WPP; Marine Notté, Head of International TV at Hulu; Cara Cusumano, Festival Director of The Tribeca Film Festival; Deborah Archer, President & CEO of the ACLU; Jay Shetty, Host of On Purpose; Ahmir Thompson (Questlove), DJ and Producer; Gerald Youngblood, Chief Marketing Officer, Lenovo; Bob Carrigan, CEO of Audible; Kimberly E. Paige, EVP & CMO of BET; Katie Couric, Journalist; and Quinta Brunson, Writer, Director, and Actor.

Toby is an actor, writer and award-winning stand-up comedian. He has recently completed filming on Working Title’s PRESSURE with Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser and can currently be seen with Bill Nighy in JOY on Netflix. He has recently appeared in WE ARE LADY PARTS (Channel 4/Peacock), FATHER BROWN (BBC One) and DREAMING WHILST BLACK (BBC One).

Big Red Button is the name Johnny Burns and Pier van Tijn adopt when they make films. Their work has garnered much praise from the industry, including a Special Jury Prize at Palm Springs, Gold at the BTAAs, Staff Picks from Vimeo, Best Film at Kinsale and Single Funniest Moment at the Portland Comedy Film Festival. In one year they directed 3 of the top 5 most complained about adverts in the UK.

“Nominees like Toby and Pier & Johnny of Big Red Button are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Nick Borenstein, General Manager of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 13,000 entries we received this year.”

Toby said, “We are officially one of the top 5 weirdest things on the internet. That’s something to be proud of.”

As a nominee, WET FISH is also eligible to win a Webby People’s Voice Award, which is voted online by fans across the globe. From now until April 17th, WET FISH fans can cast their votes at:
