Steve Coogan has reassured fans that there will be plenty more Alan Partridge from him in the future. Unless he "drops dead".
The star of the new film The Penguin Lessons was talking to Dev Griffin on the Heart Evening Show.when the subject of his long running character came up.
Griffin said: "“We have a question that we ask all our guests, Steve. It’s called, ‘Please stop asking me.’ We’re not saying these are good or bad questions; it’s just a question that you feel comes up quite a lot. You feel like probably at this point in your career you’ve answered it enough. Do you have a ‘Please stop asking me?’”
This was when the subject of Partridge inevitably came up. Coogan replied: “Do you know what, I think I probably would have had at some point regarding Alan Partridge – ‘Is there going to be anymore Alan Partridge?’ But now I can say, pretty much until the day I drop dead, the answer will be, ‘Yes, there will be some more. Unless I drop dead.’ I suppose someone else could take on the role. But not really, no. I’m very lucky that A) I’ve had a career that’s lasted this long, and B) that I’m able to do sort of what I like, to some extent, in so far as I can jump between comedy and drama.”
Coogan has previously revealed that he is currently working on a Partridge project where the spoof interviewer eplores mental health.
