Video: Comedian James Dowdeswell On The Social Power Of Beer And Pubs

Comedian James Dowdeswell has branched out from stand-up comedy with an online talk celebrating beer and pubs and has also produced his own beer.

Dowdeswell, who previously wrote the book, The Pub Manifesto: A Comedian Stands Up For Pubs, says that the media often blames alcohol for problems in society. Yet in his experience drinking beer and visiting pubs brings society together. He hopes his talk will persuade people to look at beer and pubs in a more positive light.

Dowdeswell has been dubbed “The Craft Beer Comedian” and has done gigs in venues including Brew York Brewery, Moor Brewery, and The Alma Theatre in Bristol. His latest show is entitled Beers of a Clown. James even produces his own beer, the aptly titled Lazy Eye-PA which is available here.

He will be performing at the following venues.

6 June - Sips & Giggles Wine Comedy at R & H Wines, Liverpool
19 June - Beers Of A Clown at Moor Brewery, Bristol
9 July - Beers Of A Clown at Westerham Brewery, Surrey
11 July - Sips & Giggles Wine Comedy at Another? Wine Bar, Nottingham
