Does comedian John Bishop have a side hustle fitting Velux windows?
Bishop is currently on a tour marking 25 years as a stand up comedian and has also just been named as the host of a new BBC Entertainment Show, entitled Wisdom of the Crowd, but comedy fans have been struck his his resemblance to a window fitter in the current ad campaign for Velux.
Numerous people on scoail media have wondered if it actually is John Bishop. The fitter certainly has the longer than average hair and the muscular physique of Bishop. But surely the comedy work is going well enough for him not to be moonlighting with another job. And given that he was formerly a marketing executive in the pharmaceutical world why would he opt for window fitting?
We at beyond the joke do like to do our own investigative journalism and take great professional pride in doing deep dives into the burning issues of the day. When we explored this story further it transpired that Bishop is already aware that he has a doppelganger in the window fitting business.
Fellow stand-up Des Bishop (no relation) asked him about it in the latest episode of The Bishop Exchange in which the two namesakes shoot the breeze. He was asked if it was him and even the superstar comedian was confused: "If that's not me I'm amazed," he said. "To prove it's not me they're gonna have to bring the other me to court."
