Comedian and writer Abigoliah Schamaun and writer and producer Tom Salinsky will be delving into the best of British television’s comedy shows in their new podcast All British Comedy Explained.
Abigoliah Schamaun is originally from America. Despite living and working as a comedian in the U.K for eleven years, her knowledge of British television is nothing short of shameful. Luckily, she has British writer Tom Salinsky to help her out, one show at a time.
Each episode Tom will pick a television show and explain the background and history to Abigoliah. Then both Salinsky and Schamaun will watch two episodes from the series and discuss it. At the end of each podcast episode Abigoiah will decide which show goes on her “shelf of fame” and which stays in the bargain bin.
This is a podcast for anyone who loves to listen to the history of British television and laugh along with the absurd incites from a novice.
The theme of the first podcast season is Landmarks. These are the shows that Tom Salinsky has curated as a baseline for Abigoliah. They are the must-know of British comedies. He has chosen: Monty Python’s Flying Circus, The Young Ones, Not Only But Also, The Goon Show, Victoria Wood: as Seen on TV, The Office, The Day Today, and I’m Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
“I’m so excited to start this Podcast! It’ll be such a relief when my friends reference a sitcom; I won’t have to just politely nod to cover up the shameful fact I’ve never seen it.”
- Abigoliah Schamaun
“Making people sit and watch my favourite TV show while I interject with fascinating facts is what I do in my spare time anyway. So I’m thrilled to be able to share this odd behaviour with the world.”
- Tom Salinsky
All British Comedy Explained podcast will debut on the 2nd of October with an introduction show explaining the format and backgrounds of Tom Salinsky and Abigoliah Schamaun. The first full episode will drop the 9th of October with episodes coming out fortnightly after that. All British Comedy Explained is already available to subscribe to on all podcast platforms including Apple and Spotify.
