Comedian Ashley Storrrie joins the line-up for this week's Richard Osman's House of Games alongside Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Megan McCubbin and Adam Woodyatt.
It's a particularly poignant time for Storrie as her mother, powerhouse comedian Janey Godley, died a year ago this weekend. Storrie posted her thoughts on social media: "A year ago today I sat in my mam’s hospice room, I held her hand, I told her it was time to go- I told her I would be fine- she blinked her eyes open for a second but she was too far gone. And then I went to work. Just like she’d told me to. I went and did my radio show, and I knew in my heart that when I woke up the next day she’d be dead and she was. Tomorrow is the anniversary of her death. Today is the anniversary of the last time I saw her- the last time I touched her hand.
I miss her. I miss having that person I can be 100% myself with. I miss having the person who helps me sort through my day to day life, and all the things I struggle with- and answer the questions I need the answers to, and tells me what to do. I miss my friend. I miss my mum.
Thank you for all your love. X"
I remember seeing Storrie for the first time at Yhe Stand's Red Raw night for comedy newcomers in Glasgow about a decade ago and it was pretty obvious that she was going to make her own mark on the comedy world.
Storrie is the star and co-wrtier of the sitcom Dinosaur, which has been commissioned to return for a second series.
Filmed and set in Glasgow, series one of Dinosaur followed Nina (Ashley Storrie), an autistic woman in her 30s who adored her life living with her sister and best friend Evie. However, when Evie rushed into an engagement after only six weeks and made Nina her maid of honour, Nina was floored. Forced to reconcile with her sister’s impulsive decision, Nina grappled with what this new challenge meant, which led to a surprising journey of self-discovery.
