Rhys James To Be Regular Panellist When Mock The Week Returns

Mock the Week returns with a brand-new nine-part series, launching Sunday 1 February at 9pm on TLC, now free-to-air in the UK. The series is hosted once again by Dara Ó Briain. Rhys James joins the series as a regular panellist, bringing his signature deadpan and rapidfire one-liners to every episode.

The opening episode delivers a comedy powerhouse line-up featuring Ahir Shah, Angela Barnes, Ed Byrne, Russell Howard and Sara Pascoe alongside James and Ó Briain. Together they take a satirical look at the week's biggest news stories.

Sara Pascoe on the series return “I just wanted to say I feel bad for the viewers, because when they bought back the Gladiators they had fit, young, sexy, news ones. They didn’t bring out the old ones again.”

Rhys James from episode one on the Beckham saga, “My favourite part of this whole story though is that the person that went on the news to sort of expose what the truth is was DJ Fat Tony…that can’t be the arbiter of truth in a national news story. Most people are judged by a select committee or a jury of their peers..” He continues, "For years we've wondered what zig a zig ah means and now we know it's give a lap dance to your first born."

Russell Howard tackles the now-infamous first dance, "the big thing that has come out is that apparently his mum was dancing inappropriately at his wedding which is not shock news... at my wedding my Mum was grinding up Greg Davies for an hour.  It was like a bear against a tree. I see a little bit of a dance and my mum going, I'll give you a Task Master!"

Angela Barnes adds her own sharp take, "He wrote it all on Instagram didn't he?  And I read it and I just thought, I'm really pleased David Beckham can't read."

Mock the Week continues Sundays at 9pm on TLC.  It forms part of a bumper TLC schedule which, now available free-to-air in the UK, becomes the destination for big laughs, real emotions and true escapism with its broad entertainment offer.

In next week's show, Dara Ó Briain will be joined by Rhys James, alongside Ahir Shah, Angela Barnes, Ed Byrne, Lou Sanders and Milton Jones.
