Since 2018, The Femmes of Colo(u)r Comedy Club has presented the fiercest mixed bills celebrating the perspectives of comedians of colour who aren't cis-men

Disrupting the status quo and fighting tokenism with a 100% no-white-dudes-onstage guarantee is why FOC IT UP is ‘a new generation of comics retaliating against the old template of comedy’ according to The Guardian.

FOC IT UP! was created to provide audiences with comedy shows that centre global majority women, non-binary, trans and queer performers without tokenising or punching down.

The acronym FOC (pronounced ‘fuhk’) stands for Femmes of Colo(u)r, but platforms women, non-binary people and trans men. Translation = you ain’t gotta be femme, it’s just a fun acronym!

The Femmes of Colour Comedy Club presents their first FOC Fest on April 18, with four events taking place at the Soho Theatre. 

Funny as FOC is a crash course in standup for trans, non-binary, gender non conforming and queer people of colour* taught by the incredible Dre Spisto and Alex Franklin.

Power to the People is a workshop to learn to utilize humor for self expression, building confidence, taking up space and releasing serotonin for women, non-binary people and trans people of colour. Taught by Kemah Bob and Kate Cheka.

Live and Direct is a panel on navigating the live comedy scene including, gigging, making solo shows, producing comedy shows, navigating the Edinburgh fringe and touring. Hosted by Aisha Amanduri featuring The Head of Producing at Plosive (makers of Off Menu and more) Naomi Parnell, director and Comedy Programmer for Soho Theatre Walthamstow Jet Vevers and comedian Kate Cheka.
