Comedian Paul Sneddon Has Died
Comedian and poet Paul Sneddon, best known to many as Vladimir McTavish, has died. The Stand Club broke the news on social media with the following statement:
"It’s with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Sneddon known to so many as Vladimir McTavish & Bob Doolally. Paul has been a vital part of The Stand since we began and much treasured and loved part of the comedy scene for many years. He was as known for his kindness, encouragement and generosity as he was for his immense talent. He made every green room brighter, every line-up funnier and the world a nicer place to live in.
We are broken at the loss of our dear friend and will in time be marking his life appropriately. For the time being, all our thoughts are with his family: Christine and his girls Julia and Rosie, as well as his many many friends and fans during this time."
Jojo Sutherland wrote: "I don’t really know how to put this into words.
Paul wasn’t just an amazing comedian. He was one of those people who held the Scottish comedy circuit together without ever making it about himself. Grace,humour, kindness… he had all of it. He was the dad of our comedy family, whether he realised it or not.
For me, he was my comedy husband through so many plays, films and sketches. We spent years making each other laugh, winding each other up, telling the same stories over and over and over ( especially the first time I met you and Christine at that infamous Oban gig plus ANY Mac Star gig we ever did, oh and not forgetting that Dave Macbeth gig in Inverness that I still have video footage of you on the floor)
It doesn’t feel real because there are still so many stories left to tell that have your name all over them.
The comedy circuit has lost one of its giants. But that’s nothing compared to what Christine, Rosie and Julia have lost. My heart breaks for you all.
Thank you for everything, Paul. For the laughs, the friendship, the support, and for being exactly who you were.
Rest easy, pal. I have a feeling you’ll still be in every dressing room, every backstage story and every laugh we share. Love you."

Comedian Gavin Wesbter spoke for many when he posted: "Such a great bloke. Funny man as well. A light has gone out on the comedy circuit. We won’t forget you Paul RIP"
