Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has revealed more details about his next project.

Blackmere is described as “an absurd comedy disguised as an incredibly serious crime thriller. Tormented Detective John Blackmere leaves the rain-soaked Northern city of Bleakford for London to avenge his partner’s death and catch a ritualistic serial killer before they run out of victims. Contains blood and frowning.”

It will star Paddy Considine (pictured), Rory Kinnear, Georgina Campbell and Lena Headey.

Brooker has mixed crime and comedy in the past. He made A Touch of Cloth for Sky in 2012 with John Hannah as hard drinking D.I. Jack Cloth and Suranne Jones as D.C/D.I. Anne Oldman.

Blackmere is written by Brooker with Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Emer Kenny, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris, with additional material by Victoria Asare Archer.

It will stream on Netflix in early 2027.
