Ellie White And Natasia Demetriou On Their New Comedy Series

Comedy duo Ellie White and Natasia Demetriou return with the highly anticipated second series of their critically acclaimed surreal sketch show.

The opening episode plunges viewers straight back into their uniquely bizarre, hyper-magnified universe. Brace yourself for an overwhelming influx of high-energy ridiculousness, a touch of social commentary, and a masterclass in character acting.

Ellie & Natasia returns on Wednesday 21 October at 10pm on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two

Interview: Ellie White and Natasia Demetriou

Welcome back Ellie and Natasia, what can you tell us about the new series?

Ellie: It’s a sketch show and it’s very very funny. Characters, punchlines, gags, wigs, fingerless gloves. It’s cheeky but it’s also playful.

Natasia: What she said.

Do you have a favourite character/sketch?

Ellie: Internet Nails is always a laugh

Natasia - Internet Nails till I die.

Why did you both want to write a sketch show?

Ellie: It’s the only option we had.

Natasia: The children need to eat.

Where do you find inspiration for the sketches?

Ellie: Chat GPT

Natasia: Live Laugh Love.

Talk us through your process of developing a sketch

Ellie: Tash tells me a story and I say: ‘Hey girl, that’s a sketch!’

Natasia: I tell Ellie a story and she says: ‘Hey Girl, thats a sketch!’

Could any of your characters have their own show?

Ellie: Internet Nails forever.

Natasia: Internet Nails 100 percent and we did a sketch that got cut which would make an incredible show. #releasethecutsketches

Is there anyone you would love to see cameo in one of your sketches? If so who and which sketch?

Ellie: Jackson Pollock!! No one would see it coming.

Natasia. Yeah, Jackson, Klimt, Dali - one of the big boys. They are kinda more painting dudes so it would be super cute to see them try some accents and punchlines.

How do you decide which ideas make it into the show and which ones get cut?

Ellie: Anything that isn’t making us laugh when we’ve read it out a few times must go.

Natasia: Funny is money. Money is life. If it ain’t making paper salad then it's gots to go.

Which comedy duos do you look up to?

Ellie - French and Saunders / Harry and Paul / Ant and Dec

Natasia - Milligan, Cleese, Everett, Sessions...

Have you received any advice from fellow comedians?

Ellie: Aisling Bea once told me to always do crowd work.

Natasia: ‘Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24

Finally, for anyone who is coming to the show how would you best describe Ellie & Natasia?

Ellie: Two beautiful twentysomethings dance for your entertainment.

Natasia: Exactly.
