As Only Fools and Horses marks its 45th anniversary year, and following tonight's premiere of the first series, U&GOLD today announces a second two-part series of Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive (2 x 60')
Where series one revealed never-seen-before footage from over 10 classic episodes - including fan favourites like The Jolly Boys’ Outing and Mother Nature’s Son and more – series two will reveal even further highlights, over 30 brand new unseen moments from other episodes, including scenes from the later specials such as Time on Our Hands, which saw Del and Rodney finally become millionaires and which drew a record 24.3million viewers when it originally aired in 1996.
The series once again features new interviews with cast and crew, including Sir David Jason, Tessa Peake-Jones and Gwyneth Strong. Created by John Sullivan - whose wit and warmth defined a generation of British comedy - Only Fools and Horses remains one of the most loved shows in television history.
In touching interviews, Sir David Jason (Del Boy) Tessa Peake-Jones (Raquel), Gwyneth Strong (Cassandra), and Sue Holderness (Marlene Boyce), once again look back on their time in Peckham, sharing their spontaneous reactions and paying tribute to cast and crew of the show including creator John Sullivan. Other contributors include the show’s long-time director Tony Dow and video editor Chris Wadworth.
Commissioned for UKTV by Helen Nightingale, head of factual and factual entertainment, commissioning and ordered by Emma Tibbetts, director of scripted programming, and Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning. Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive is co-produced by North One and Shazam, with Sean Doherty as Series Producer and Director, and John Quinn and Amy Sullivan as Executive Producers.
Helen Nightingale, UKTV’s Head of Factual and Factual Entertainment, Commissioning, said, “With series one focusing on ten or so much-loved episodes, we have barely scratched the surface of unseen footage from this most beloved of comedy shows. Series two promises even more insight into just what it took to create such a fantastic and much-loved series.”
Emma Tibbetts, added, “North One has unearthed a comedic goldmine equal to the one Del and Rodney uncover with the antique watch that finally makes them millionaires in the classic Time on Our Hands. It’s a pleasure to watch these new scenes and see how Sir David Jason and the cast react to their discovery.”
Sean Doherty, director and series producer, said, “It really has been the most enormous privilege seeing such precious, newly found John Sullivan gold for the first time – and sharing it with the incredibly talented people who helped make it come to life.”
Only Fools and Horses was a ratings powerhouse and its legacy has inspired a hit West End musical, spin-offs, merchandise, and fan experiences - proving its lasting cultural impact. As the show turns 45 in 2026, Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive celebrates its enduring appeal and the timeless humour that made it a household favourite.
