Rarely Asked Questions: Dina Martina: Page 2 of 2

8. I think you are very good at what you do (that’s why I’m asking these questions). What do you think of you?

Firstly, thank you. Secondly, I like to think of myself as a comely singer / dancer / classically-trained gymnast who takes time out to smell the little things. Sometimes I get depressed, but I'm as resourceful as they come; I mean, if you cut off my arms, I'll slit my ankles!

9. How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn?

I'm not sure what it translates to in British pounds, but it's certainly enough to keep me in PT Cruisers and chicken tartare. I also have a private post office box.

10. How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks?

Luck is very important. When I was an adolescent in Las Vegas, lots of doors opened for me that would've remained closed if I hadn't been running with an "upper crust" crowd. All my best girlfriends were heiresses of famous fortunes: Lucy Pepperidge, Charisse Lysol, Doreen Kotex, etc. And my mother and I probably wouldn't have moved to Las Vegas if my father hadn't died in childbirth.

11. It's been said that entertainers fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into a third category?

If there is a third category, I think it's a hybrid of the first two – tortured golfers – but I don't play golf or indulge in torture, so I'm not sure I fit into any of those groups. I do have a very strong belief system, though. For example, I believe the children are our future, but I also believe that old people are our past. My firm beliefs are why I'm so close to the hill that the people at the top of this industry are on top of.

12. Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other singers?

There are so many people on Earth, it's really hard to narrow it down. I do enjoy Carrot Top from time to time, though, for obvious reasons. And the guy who played Bernie in Weekend at Bernie's, because he was so understated. My instinct would've been to "go big" with that role, but he played his cards real close.

13. Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not?

They stay clean for the most part, but it really depends on what I ate the night before. Sometimes I spot a little. And for some reason, my corn comes out the other end still on the cob...what's up with that?!
