Eddie Izzard is planning to stand as a candidate in Labour’s elections to the party’s ruling national executive committee.
Izzard has openly been a long-time supporter of the party but according to a story in the New Statesman this will be the first time he will have held a formal role. He has spoken of standing as London Mayor in the future and most recently talked about standing as an MP in the 2020 General Election.
Izzard supported Andy Burnham in the last leadership campaign and describes himself as a "radical moderate. I do radical things with a moderate message”.
The 54-year-old comedian (pictured) is currently in South Africa where earlier this week he started his second attempt to run 27 marathons in 27 days in aid of Sport Relief.
