Magician Paul Daniels has died aged 77. He had been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour
His son Gary tweeted "It is with incredible sadness that I can confirm that Dad, Paul Daniels, passed away over night."
In February Daniels' agent confirmed that the star was ill and asked the media to respect Daniels' privacy. "On behalf of Paul, Debbie and their families, we thank you for your kind concerns and support at this sad time and ask that their privacy continues to be respected. There will be no further comments at this time."
Daniels, whose real name was Newton Edward Daniels, was married to Debbie McGee. He became a TV favourite in the 1980s and was best known for his catchphrase "You'll like this...not a lot."
As well as fronting magic shows, he presented game shows including Wipeout and Odd One Out and more recently performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2010, he appeared on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
