Streaming company Deezer has announced a new weekly comedy podcast Strong & Stable, where Britain’s best comedians will give a ‘radically alternative’ take on the UK’s election campaign.
Strong & Stable will consist of four episodes rounding-up the good, bad and ugly moments of the election campaign. The first episode, available for users to stream on Wednesday 31st May, will see David Schneider play host to a bonanza of satire gold from James O’Brien, Josie Long and Bob Mills, in addition to a political monologue from impressionist Rory Bremner and fictional news reporter Jonathan Pie providing an election rant.
David Schneider, Creative Director of That Lot who’s previously starred in shows I’m Alan Partridge and The Day Today, commented: "They often say that laughter is the best medicine. Possibly the only medicine if the NHS cuts continue. Which is why I'm excited to do this podcast bringing together the worlds of politics and comedy in a way that hasn't been seen since the internet reacted to Diane Abbott's interview on police funding."
Roman Tagoe, Head of UK & Ireland Content at Deezer, commented: “From ‘misspoken’ moments on LBC and unfortunate campaign poster photoshoots, the relentless buzz of a general election has already provided a huge amount of laughs. Through partnering with a fantastic line-up of comedians, we want to bring these priceless moments to Deezer’s millions of users whilst helping to increase engagement with the campaign trials and tribulations."
