The Kings Cross venue formerly run by comedy company Invisible Dot has reopened.
2Northdown (the address is 2 Northdown Street, N1) is run by Nick Mills, the 27-year-old entrepreneur who also runs ticket agency TicketText.
He plans to stage events there including comedy shows, food and fashion pop-ups, launch parties, filming and photoshoots.
The 100-capacity venue has been a ‘labour of love’ for Nick and his team following renovations to the performance space and offices upstairs that also now serve as TicketText’s HQ. He commented: “When the site became available, we jumped at the opportunity. As it’s our first solo event space, it has been an exciting learning curve for the team - everything from filling the diary through to brand partnerships...even choosing the perfect food and drink suppliers for our bar.
“That said, in a few short weeks, the business has been thriving and we’ve already hosted the likes of Hat Trick Productions, Ray Jones of Time Out, Unbound Publishing, Channel 4’s ALL4, Paul Chowdhry, Sara Pascoe, Milton Jones and Nish Kumar. By creating this multi-purpose, configurable space we’re quickly attracting a fascinating variety of events, with a particular emphasis on great comedy acts that are real crowd-pleasers. This year is going to be a big one for us!”
2Northdown will have shows every single night until early August.
