News: Rory Cowan Quits Mrs Brown's Boys

Rory Cowan, who plays gay son Rory Brown in Mrs Brown's Boys, has left the top-rating show.

According to an interview in the Irish Mail Cowan handed in his notice in the middle of June but he agreed with star Brendan O'Carroll that he would stay on until the end of the run of live shows at the 02 Arena, which concluded on Sunday night.Cowan was best known for corpsing or looking shocked whenever by Agnes Brown looked him in the eye and made a rude remark or went off-script.

He said: 'I hadn’t been happy working for the Mrs Brown’s Boys company for the last 18 months to two years. I feel that 26 years is enough so I decided it was time to go."

He added that after the show finished he put his things in a Waitrose plastic bag. He then went out to dinner with friends, including EastEnders star Adam Woodyat.

As for the future Cowan said: 'I'd love to do something like a weekend radio show but we'll see what comes down the line."
