News: All-Star Benefit Gigs for JoJo Smith

Last week Beyond The Joke broke the news that comedian JoJo Smith had to cancel her Edinburgh Fringe run due to illness. Details here. Furthermore she needed almost £9000 to pay for an urgent operation and had set up a gofundme page.

The comedy world instantly rallied around and by the following morning Smith had already raised the money required for her immediate treatment. The support, however, did not end there. Comedians felt that Smith would need more money as she would be unable to work for a while. Comic Mark Olver and promoter Alex Petty both suggested that Smith's now vacant 6.30pm slot at the Laughing Horse venue at the Cabaret Voltaire, 38 Blair St, EH1 1QR should become a month-long frundraiser. The gigs are free, money collected at the end of each show will go to Jojo.

All the organisers needed now was some comedians. They were soon inundated with acts offering their services. Among those who haave agreed to do shows for JoJo are Jason Manford, Nish Kumar, and Gary Delaney. And, of course, Mark Olver himself. You can see the full daily line-up below.
