Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders are to reunite for a special 30th anniversary edition of their award-winning sketch show. The one-off edition of French & Saunders will air this Christmas.
Reuniting for their first show in 10 years, the duo that brought the world Absolutely Fabulous and The Vicar of Dibley is promising viewers a show bursting with greatest hits, hilarious rarities, and even some brand new material.
Dawn French says: “We’ve got our lucky pants on and we're ready to get funny...”
Jennifer Saunders says: “We have almost deliberately stayed alive this long just to force the British Broadcorping Castration to put us on television one last time.”
Jon Plowman, Executive Producer says: “To be honest I wouldn't have a career without them so it’s terrific that they're back together for this show of old, gold and new stuff. They are two of the greats and it's good that they've finally found each other's phone numbers for the first time in a while.”
Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning says: “French and Saunders are the godmothers of modern female comedy performers and one of the most beloved comedy double acts this country has ever produced. This will be a special treat for all comedy fans and we look forward to seeing what will get their glorious spoof treatment this Christmas."
Additionally, to celebrate Dawn French’s 60th birthday next month, her critically acclaimed one-woman show, 30 Million Minutes, will air on BBC Two at 10pm on Sunday 1st October. Originally broadcast on BBC Four last year and filmed during its final West End run in October 2016, it takes the audience on a journey through various delights and riches, with the odd irksome tribulation thrown in, as Dawn speaks about the lessons life has taught her, and the things she knows to be true.
