News: More Tributes for Sean Hughes

Tributes have continued to come in for comedian Sean Hughes, who died on October 16 at the age of 51.

On Saturday the programme for the football match beyween Crystal Palace and West Ham at Selhurst Park featured a picture of Hughes – a fanatical Palace fan – being carried by players from his favourite team. The result of the match was a  2:2 draw.

Hughes once said of his beloved Eagles: "Supporting Crystal Palace is like taking an ugly girl to the party. You get a lot of strange looks but that makes you love her even more."

On Hughes' passing Crystal Palace FC tweeted: "We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of comedian and Palace fan Sean Hughes. Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

Chris Coleman, pictured second from right, once appeared on an edition of Sean's Show on Channel 4 alongside Robert Smith of The Cure.

And yesterday at the Vodafone Galway Comedy Carnival comedians from Ireland and beyond gathered at the famous Roisin Dubh comedy club to read Hughes' poetry to an audience of fans.
