Piers Morgan has incurred the wrath of a number of comedians following his provocative tweet about Nish Kumar earlier today.
Following Beyond The Joke's announcement that Nish Kumar and Piers Morgan would both be appearing on Question Time on January 11 Morgan tweeted: "Splendid. Let's see if Mr Kumar's as Billy Big Balls to my face as he is to me on Twitter..."
Kumar responded: "From what I can tell, I have tweeted about him but not @-ed him. Which if anything, is the opposite of Billy Big Balls. I'm Chris Small Nuts" and then he followed with: "Either Piers is searching his own name, or he's mixing up his asians."
Kumar then added: "Not sure we've ever corresponded on here before. But then when have you ever let facts get in the way eh Piers?" to which Katherine Ryan added: "He thinks you’re Reza Aslan," referring to the author of Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth.
But this wasn't all. Another comedian was quick to support Kumar. James Acaster tweeted: "Hi Piers! I think you are gonna get all the big balls to your face baby, big balls directly to yo face. Big. Big. Balls. My name is James Acaster and I am saying this on twitter #balls"
Piers Morgan V Comedy - Update
The spat looked like it had settled down when Morgan went off to the Good Morning Britain Christmas lunch but later in the day it seemed to kick off again with David Baddiel and Romesh Ranganathan chipping in and Morgan unearthing some old tweets about him from Kumar that he had not been @'d in.
Kumar tweeted: "You need to chill out dude. You seem agitated." to which Morgan replied: "Mate, we'll see who's agitated on Jan 11. I've seen lots of comedians try their luck on Question Time during my 21 appearances... they usually crash & burn."
