Comedian Chris Rock travelled to his gig at the 02 Arena on the Tube.
The stand-up superstar avoided getting stuck in traffic by taking the London Underground Jubilee Line from Central London to North Greenwich. He was joined by fellow comedians Jeffrey Ross, Michelle Wolf, Anthony Jeselnick and journalist Nelson George. Ross posted the attached photo on Twitter writing: "When you decide to take the underground to the biggest show of the tour..."
Rock's fans had to put their smartphone in pouches on the way into the gig. It was a process that was genereally well-received by fans who were delighted not to see the gig through a sea of lit-up screeens taking pictures and filming routines. Ticket-holders were warned if they did use their phones they would be ejected. A fan was reportedly removed from Rock's gig at the Glasgow Hydro when he looked at his phone to check up on his sick father.
Rock was using the same Yondr technology that Dave Chappelle will be using at his forthcoming UK gigs. Attendees are advised to leave their phones in their cars or at home. Anyone who brings a cell phone will be required to place it in a locked Yondr pouch.
