A new comedy club is opening. London’s Live Comedy (LLC), at 28a Leicester Square, is aiming to have the funniest, freshest and most innovative comedy club in the UK, with the biggest and most diverse line ups.
The opening month, March, will feature stand-up comedy from Sara Pascoe, Tez Ilyas, Tiff Stevenson, Kerry Godliman, Paul Sinha, Geoff Norcott and many more. It will also feature regular nights starting with Sara Pascoe’s Literary Salon, Keith Farnan’s Irish Comedy Party, Thom Tuck’s Thom Foolery, Ben Van Der Velde’s Classic Joke Club, Amy Howerska’s Experimentia and our LGBTQI+ night curated by Elf Lyons.
The club aims to be space where comedians and audiences feel safe and able to enjoy a plethora of comedy styles. The venue is being programmed by comedian Tiernan Douieb, who has been working the comedy circuit for over a decade and has curated a number of successful comedy events from The Phoenix Fringe to the Stand Up For Refugees charity nights in 2017. Tiernan said: “It’s always exciting for there to be a new comedy venue, but somewhere that puts care, attention and investment to building a community of comedy fans and comedians, and actively aims to be the most diverse, kick ass room in the country or world? Yes please. It’s long overdue.”.
The kitchen is being run by BBC Masterchef Professionals finalist Matt Healy, who said “It’s exciting to be asked to create a menu for such a prestigious location. Leicester Square is in the heart of the West End and to have my food in a place with so many visitors from around the world is definitely an honour.”
The venue will be multifunctional. Late evening from 11pm LLC functions as “London’s Luxury Club”.
