Comedian Richard Herring has raised over £100,000 for the charity Refuge on International Women's Day.
As has become traditional Herring spent the day on Twitter responding to people sarcastically asking when International Men's Day is by telling them that there is one and it is on November 19. At the same time he was running a gofundme campaign rasing money for Refuge, the charity which supports women & children experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.
By the time Herring went to bed he had exceeded his target of £100,000 and had raised over £114,000. At the start of the day the figure was around £13,000. As the clock approached midnight he had raised over £120,000. You can still donate here. Friday morning update - the figure is now £122,575.
