Brian Pern: A Tribute has won a National Film Award for Best Comedy. 

The programme paid tribute to enduring rock chameleon Pern, alias Fast Show actor/comedian Simon Day. Jane Asher also won a Best Supporting Actress Award for her peformance as one of Pern's wives.

It aired on BBC4 last year and was the latest in a number of rock docs on ex-Thotch lead singer Pern made by Rhys Thomas. According to this documentary Tony Blair was in an embryonic Thotch line-up.

Among the real celebrities taking part in the mock doc were Phil Collins and David Baddiel (billed as Danny Dyer). The highlight was probably Peter Davison recalling Pern’s feeble acting on Dr Who.
