Comedian Amy Schumer has come under fire for allegedly interrupting another stand-up comedian so that she could try out her own material onstage in a New York comedy club.

The star of the new film I Feel Pretty (pictured) reportedly walked onto the stage at Caroline's comedy club when breakout artist Brendan Sagalow was performing and asked if she could do some jokes.

Sagalow gave his account of the incident on his podcast: “I’m five minutes into my set, I’m doing some crowd work and then from off to the side, I hear, ‘Hey Brendan! It’s Amy Schumer! Can I do 10 minutes?’ in the middle of my set,” Sagalow said on his podcast. Schumer walked on and Sagalow let her take over for a short while before he returned to finished off his act.

Sagalow, who had family and friends in the audience that night, seemed to see the positive side of things: "When I’m walking off I’m like, ‘OK…’ But I’m actually happy – I’m like, ‘This is a good thing! This is a great thing!’ Everybody thinks I’m friends with Amy, she knows my name, she said she follows me on Instagram, which she mentioned which is great. She said she ‘loves Brendan as a comic.’ She doesn’t. She’s playing the game. You put the quarter in, you play the game.”

It seemed to work for him. When he came back on he was a roaring success: “I thought it was awesome, because everybody else’s headlining set at Carolines, nobody talks about it. Now everybody’s talking about it.”
