Comedy duo Max and Ivan have added six more of Edinburgh’s finest acts to their stellar line-up of comedians taking part in this year’s epic Festival finale.
Dara Ó Briain, Rachel Parris, Marcus Brigstocke, Nina Conti, Angelos Epithemiou and Lazy Susan are to join Max & Ivan – the comedy geniuses behind the Edinburgh Fringe’s first-ever PROM NIGHT at Assembly High.
The Principal of Assembly High is none other than fast-talking Irish comedian Dara Ó Briain, host of Mock the Week, Robot Wars and Go 8 Bit; acclaimed comic ventriloquist Nina Conti, in full Monkey costume, will appear as a school mascot alumnus; Best Newcomer nominees Lazy Susan, the two sole members of the Drama Club, will be presenting some of their hard-hitting devised work; and party dampener extraordinaire Angelos Epithemiou (Dan Renton Skinner) has taken a job as Council Noise Inspector - with one mission only, to shut down the Party!
The star-studded array of guest singers includes musical comedian, actor and improviser Rachel Parris (BBC2's The Mash Report), and stand-up Marcus Brigstocke.
These top-class comedians will join an already line-up which includes Jason Byrne as Assembly High’s current mascot, the beloved ‘Alfie the Ass’; and two-time Best Show nominee Kieran Hodgson as the choral scholar. PLEASE NOTE: Edinburgh Comedy Award-winner Adam Riches, AKA Coach Coach of rival school Pleasance High – is strictly BANNED from the event.
PROM NIGHT is on one night only (Friday 24 August). Audiences are invited to dress-up 1950s style, drink irresponsibly strong punch, have their prom photo taken (in front of the classiest balloon-arch backdrop the prom committee could afford), and dance the night away to the live rock’n’roll of house band The Cummerbunds, led by award-winning double-act (and recent Assembly High graduates) Max & Ivan.
Unfortunately Lolly Adefope will no longer be playing head cheerleader due to filming commitments in America.
Max & Ivan’s hit show The Wrestling, won the Panel Prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and played to sold-out crowds at the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The duo has performed their intricate multi-character live shows at festivals worldwide, and their BBC Radio 4 sitcom, The Casebook of Max & Ivan, has attracted guest stars including Matt Lucas, June Whitfield, Jessica Hynes, Reece Shearsmith and Joanna Lumley.
