PBH's* Free Fringe will return to Edinburgh in 2018 and is looking for your support. The Free Fringe is free for performers and free for the audience (although they can chip in if they like the show). Performers pay nothing to be part of the Free Fringe. No registration fees, no hire fees, no box office split. The Free Fringe wants to support artists no matter what their financial situation. This year there will be over 9,000 Free Fringe performances ranging from comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret or spoken word. All for free.
To make these shows happen they need your support.
On 4 and 5 July they will be hosting global 24-hour Free Fringe performances with all funds raised going to this fundraiser. There are shows in Paris, London, New York, Dublin, Melbourne, Taiwan, Coventry and more. The London show is at the Red Gallery on July 4 at 7pm. Check out the Facebook page for more information and follow #PBHFreeFringe on social media.
It costs almost £30,000 to host the PBH Free Fringe. It is an organisation run via volunteers. Nobody receives a salary. Nobody in PBH profits from our performers shows other than the performers themselves. They sell advertising through the Wee Blue Book (the guide to PBH Free Fringe shows), donations and income from fundraising events.
*PBH stands for founder Peter Buckley Hill - not to be confused with any other free shows in Edinburgh.
