Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Jimeoin: Page 2 of 2
6. What do your parents/children (delete as applicable) think of your job?
The young kids love it. My teenage girl is mortified and my wife doesn’t like other people listening to me so a gig for her is a nightmare. My parents would watch but not in our home town. That was too much pressure for them. And me.
7. What’s the worst thing about being a comedian?
Having to do questionnaires. No, good question. Over all it's great. I love it and wouldn’t do anything else. Well I’ve painted myself into a bit of a corner. I can't really doing anything else now.
8. I think you are very good at what you do (that’s why I’m asking these questions). What do you think of you?
Ahhh. Nice. Like what you did there. I think I'm good at what I do. In fact I think I’m one of the better ones. Value for money really. I’m talking about me as a comic here. As a human being I am totally disappointed in myself and I really need to try harder.
9. How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn.
The million dollar question. Yeah about that. Double it
10. How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks?
All the supposedly big breaks haven’t been big. Just being in a pub on a certain night has been where the big breaks come from. Then again anyone saying to me "this is a big gig for you and a lot could come of it" is enough for me to fuck it up .
11. Alan Davies has said that comedians fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into a third category?
I play golf and self harm myself so there. I am not a tortured artist. I prefer to do that to the audience.
12. Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other comedians?
I can’t answer that. If I did it would make it hard for me to be in that person's company. Let's say Jesus. He came across as a really nice guy in that book. Not that I've ever read it but I’m just saying from what I’ve heard.
13. Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not? (please think long and hard about this question, it's to settle an argument with my girlfriend. The future of our relationship could depend on your response).
Your drawers are a reflection of you head. Mine are full of shit and stuff I don’t really need. I would like for them to be tidy but where is the fun in that.
