Entry is now open for the annual Jewish Comedian of the Year competition.
This competition will be held at JW3 in north London as part of the UK Jewish Comedy Festival, and there will be two heats before the big showdown. The first heat will be on 31 October. The final will see the best acts from across the country compete for the one-of-a-kind title and prize on 4 December. Competitors will perform a 10-minute set in the first stage and 7 minutes in the final. If they are selected for the final, competitors are encouraged to repeat the material they presented in the heat in a shortened version. You must be available on these dates in order to be eligible for entry. Both the heat and the final will be judged by a panel of comedy industry professionals.
The competition is open to emerging comedians of any age who have not been performing regularly on the circuit for more than three years and those who broadly self-define as ‘Jewish’. All comedians must perform their own original material. Previous Jewish Comedian of the Year finalists may not apply.
The prize for the winner is...
The coveted title of UK Jewish New Comedian of the Year, and all the bragging rights that come with it
A 3-hour comedy masterclass with the legendary comedy teacher Jill Edwards (including travel to Brighton)
A headshot session with esteemed photographer Steve Ullathorne to set you up for your future glittering career
A video of your performance in the final (all finalists will receive this)
