You can expect a plethora of shows by comedians at the Edinburgh Fringe to be compared to Black Mirror this year, but this is the only one that is being covered by Rarely Asked Questions as far as we know. In I, Human Australia-based comic (and formerly London-based comic) Yianni explores the way that technology is taking us over. Is it our slave or are we its slave? We are promised an hour of analogue, human-written jokes on how humans and technology are changing each other. Get plugged in
Yianni Agisilaou: I, Human is at the Plesance Dome from August 1 - 26. Tickets here.
1. What is the last thing you do before you go on stage (apart from check your flies and/or check your knickers aren't sticking out of your skirt and check for spinach between your teeth)?
Take a deep breath and make sure I’m bouncy. I have learned that a lot of my funny comes from the energy I bring; don’t ask me why, the jokes just work better when I bounce!
2. What irritates you?
Humans acting like machines; people who illogically enforce rules, without bringing their humanity to the role. If you’re going to robotically enforce rules, we may as well get a machine to do your job!
3. What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?
I drove once when I really, really shouldn’t have. I just missed out on hitting another car and I thank Xenu that I missed them. I was young, dumb and full of sum(thing I shouldn’t have been)
4. What is the most stupid thing you have ever done?
See Question 3.
5. What has surprised you the most during your career in comedy?
How much the comedians who get really famous often get famous because they NEED TO to fill a big empty hole in their lives. Not everyone mind, but enough to make me notice a pattern.
