News: BBC Radio Wales Commissions Two Sitcoms From Robin Morgan

BBC Radio Wales has commissioned two sitcoms from Welsh stand-up and writer Robin Morgan.

‘Home’ has been picked up for a pilot episode following its shortlisting in the Find Me Funny scheme. The show focusses on 90 year old grandmother Myra moving into the care home where her millennial granddaughter Katie works.

Full casting details are to be announced, but Catrin Stewart (Sky One’s Stella) will play granddaughter Katie, while the show will be directed by Tom Price, and produced by indie Rubber Chicken.

And following a successful pilot episode in 2017, BBC Radio Wales have commissioned a full series of the sitcom ‘Relocation’, written by and starring stand-up Robin Morgan.

The show featured a metropolitan coupled (played by Helen Monks and Clint Edwards) being relocated to the Welsh Valleys after being put into witness protection.

The station have commissioned four episodes, due to be recorded this Autumn, and broadcast early next year. The show will be produced by Zipline Creative.

Robin said: “I’m delighted Radio Wales have given me not one but two commissions, especially as this is exactly what that fortune teller said would happen. I regret calling her those names now. Sorry Denise!”

Morgan’s writing credits include The News Quiz, Blind Date, Newzoids, The Now Show, Rich Hall’s US Election Breakdown and Spotlight Tonight with Nish Kumar.

He is due to perform his second hour show ‘Honeymoon’ at the Edinburgh Fringe, at the Pear Tree, August 2nd-26th (not 13th) at 4pm. Tickets here.
