Actor Peter Benson, who appeared in Heartbeat and the first Blackadder has died. He was 75 and passed away after a short illness.

Benson played funeral director Bernie Scripps in 18 series of nostalgic ITV drama Heartbeat and he also played Henry Tudor, aka Henry II, in the first Blackadder.

He also coincidentally played Henry VI in a BBC adaption of Shakespeare's play in 1983 and more recently appeared in Casualty.
