Don’t Forget the Driver is a dark comedy set in the sunny seaside town of Bognor Regis. It follows a group of people struggling with their place in the world, their own sense of identity, and reveals how, in one single moment, even in the most ordinary of lives, an accidental encounter can change the course of everything.
Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning at the BBC said: “Our debut scripted comedy piece from Sister Pictures is awash with sublime talent headed up by the reigning BAFTA comedy champ. Toby is so passionate about this project he’s in it twice, both as the lead and his Australian expat twin brother. This is a very modern study in family and identity in a fast changing Britain – full of rich observation and plenty of humorous light alongside the real life shade.”
Executive Producers Jane Featherstone and Naomi de Pear “Not only do we have the prodigiously talented Toby Jones at the wheel, but we’re thrilled to be welcoming an embarrassing wealth of acting talent on board this very British coach trip.”
Don’t Forget The Driver has been commissioned by Patrick Holland, Controller of BBC Two, and Shane Allen, Controller of BBC Comedy. It is Executive Produced by Jane Featherstone (The Split, Broadchurch, Humans) and Naomi de Pear (Flowers, The Bisexual, River) and Hootenanny. Produced by Holly Pullinger (Save Me, The Bisexual) for Sister Pictures and Hootenanny. The BBC Comedy Commissioning Editor is Kate Daughton.
