Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland 2018 is to include a nightly comedy club in association with The Evening Standard.
In a first for London’s spectacular Christmas destination, a specially curated showcase can be seen in the heated Zippos MegaDome every night at 9pm. With both the biggest names in comedy and today’s most up and coming performers, the line-ups of these fast-paced 45-minute shows will change weekly and include such stars as Terry Alderton, Dane Baptiste, Paul Sinha, Glenn Wool and Luisa Omielan.
TERRY ALDERTON
Terry is one of the most exciting comedians around, regularly performing all over the globe. He has been Perrier nominated in Edinburgh and recently won the ‘3 Weeks Critics’ award as well as Best International Act at the New Zealand Comedy Festival. As seen on Live at the Apollo, Dave’s One Night Stand and heard on Radio 4’s Terry Alderton’s All Crazy Now.
GLENN WOOL
Glenn has conquered most of the States with performances on John Oliver’s ‘New York Stand-Up Show’’, as well as appearances on ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’, ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’, ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’ and numerous other UK stand-up shows. Glenn has appeared in 28 Acts in 28 Minutes for BBC Radio 4, contributed to BBC3’s The Comic Side of Seven Days & BBC Stand Up Show. In 2016 Glenn was featured on The John Bishop Show on BBC1 as well hosting a new NBC series Before The Morning After
RAYMOND AND MR TIMPKINS REVUE
This hilarious twosome tour the country, blasting their guitar and stylophone stylings, wowing rooms with super slick prop manipulation, dazzling jaded eyes with sandal based choreography that remains inimitable. Venturing as far afield as The Falklands and Oman, they provide spiritual uplift to the armed forces. Their latest foray is into radio comedy/drama. A 1930s murder mystery based in Brighton and a frankly silly retelling of the Jack the Ripper tale, have so far been forged in the red hot fires of their imaginations
LUISA OMIELAN
Luisa Omielan is a stand-up, improviser and actress who has performed sold out shows around the globe, released a book, appeared on Live at the Apollo, recorded a DVD, presented Comic Relief 2017 and had her debut solo show aired on BBC1.
DANE BAPTISTE
Original, provocative and exceptionally prolific – Baptiste is already being hailed as one of the most exciting acts to break in years. The London born stand up made comedy history in 2014 as the first black British act to be nominated for a Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He has since written and starred in his own BBC sitcom series and made numerous other TV and radio appearances. Credits include hosting Live at the Apollo (BBC Two) and Live from the Comedy Store (Comedy Central), Tonight at the London Palladium (ITV1), Mock the Week (BBC Two), Live from the BBC (BBC Two), 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) and his own BBC sitcom, Sunny D.
PAUL SINHA
Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Paul Sinha. Paul is a familiar voice on radio with appearances on Just A Minute, The News Quiz and Fighting Talk. His own Radio 4 series 'Paul Sinha's History Revision' won the Rose d'Or for radio comedy in 2016. A lifetime of curiosity and learning informs Paul's comedy but now also ranks him as one of the UK’s finest quizzers. This has led to yet another concurrent career, this time as a general knowledge expert on the ITV quiz show, The Chase. A tea-time favourite, The Chase is the most watched programme on weekday, daytime television.
