The Whyte & Mackay Glasgow International Comedy Festival (GICF) returns in March 2019, with comedy’s best and brightest lined up for 18 days of stand up, sketches, plays, improv, films and kids shows.
GICF will present the pick of Scotland’s home grown talent, including Jerry Sadowitz, Janey Godley and Larry Dean; alongside celebrated comedians from further afield, with Julian Clary, Reginald D Hunter, Rich Hall, Al Murray, Foil, Arms & Hog and Tiff Stevenson all set to appear.
The festival is a long-established highlight of the city’s cultural calendar, packing out venues across Glasgow every year. After some dram good laughs in their debut year, Whyte & Mackay will return as title sponsors of the festival for a second year.
Ruairi Perry, Head of Blended Whisky Brands at Whyte & Mackay, said: “We’ve been producing our award-winning triple matured, smoother tasting whisky in Glasgow since 1844. As 2019 sees us celebrate our 175th birthday, we can’t think of a better way to start our celebrations than by sponsoring the Whyte & Mackay Glasgow International Comedy Festival. We look forward to sharing the stage – and a dram – with some of the greatest comedy performers on the circuit, as well as one of the most iconic comedy festivals in the world this March.”
The full programme will be launched at The Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow on Thursday 10th January 2019. A London launch takes place on Burns Night, Thursday 25 January at the Leicester Square Theatre.
