Following a whirlwind year of top tour support slots (Ricky Gervais, Bill Burr, Doug Stanhope), a 2018 Chortle Award nomination and an acclaimed, sell out Edinburgh Fringe run, Sean McLoughlin - ‘The best comedian you haven't heard of yet.’ (Time Out) - is taking Hail Mary, an hour of masterful stand up, around the UK on a national tour.
The human race is at a crossroads: on one path lies the future, with its twitchy technology and mega-corporations who know us better than we know ourselves; on the other lies the past and all the baggage that entails. And in the middle stands Sean McLoughlin, an unlikely everyman, trying to plot a course for both himself and mankind. Now 30, all Sean wants is to walk into the sunset with the love of his life and his head held high, but before that there’s some demons he wants to put to rest.
What’s it like to slip in the Google rankings for your own name? Can you date a girl called Alexa in the tech age? Is faith really a thing of the past?
Sean faces an existential battle royale to find happiness. It will be won, but there will be casualties...
Already known as one of the finest stand-ups in Britain, 2018 has proved the most fruitful year of Sean McLoughlin’s career to date. As well as finishing his stint supporting Ricky Gervais on his record-breaking Humanity tour (including being the first comedian to ever play the 15,000 seat Royal Arena in Copenhagen), Sean was hand-picked to support Bill Burr at the Royal Albert Hall and to open for the legendary Doug Stanhope on the final date of his UK tour. In addition to this, Sean was the most regular guest on Ricky Gervais Is Deadly Sirius radio show, and will play a role in Gervais’ upcoming Netflix sitcom, After Life.
Sean’s own podcast, Heal Your Wounds, was nominated for a 2018 Chortle Award in the ‘Best Internet’ category, and Sean also made multiple appearances on Russell Kane’s BBC podcast Evil Genius and the hugely popular Spocklight. In July, Sean recorded Support Act, a live album for the American record label 800 Pound Gorilla, which is available now. Support Act was 'Album of The Week' on Sirius Satellite Radio channel Raw Dog Comedy, the biggest satellite comedy radio channel in the US.
On top of this, Sean, a nominee for ‘Performer’s Choice’ at the Barry Awards (UK), has remained hugely in demand at comedy festivals across the globe, with a run at Soho Theatre in London, previous appearances at Kilkenny and at the hugely prestigious invite-only Just For Laughs in Montreal where he recorded a set for Kevin Hart’s LOL Network. Other TV credits include, Stand-Up Central, Comedy Central Live At The Comedy Store and a starring role in Brexit Stage Left for Viceland.
